Long Hair / No-Shave Hair Transplant

Long-hair and no-shave hair transplantation allows selected patients to undergo restoration while keeping much more of their existing hair length. The approach is designed for patients who want a discreet procedure without the appearance of a conventional shaved donor and recipient area.

Why patients choose long-hair transplantation

For many patients, the biggest attraction is privacy. Existing hair can help conceal donor harvesting and early recipient-area healing, making treatment easier to fit around work, social commitments and everyday life.

It can be especially attractive for patients with longer hairstyles and for women who do not want a visibly shaved donor area.

Specialised equipment for long-hair extraction

Long-hair transplantation requires different handling from conventional shaved FUE. London Hair Trust uses equipment designed specifically for long-hair harvesting, allowing follicles to be extracted while the hair shaft remains intact.

Keeping the shaft long gives the doctor an immediate visual reference for natural curvature, direction and angulation during planning and placement.

Long-hair FUE

In long-hair FUE, follicular units are removed individually while the hair shaft is preserved. This makes the technique technically demanding, but it also allows the surgical team to see how each hair naturally sits before implantation.

No-shave and partially concealed approaches

Not every discreet transplant has to be performed in exactly the same way. Some patients undergo fully unshaven extraction, while others may have small donor sections trimmed and concealed beneath longer surrounding hair.

The aim is the same: effective graft harvesting with minimal visible disruption to the patient’s existing hairstyle.

Specialist long-hair expertise

Our long-hair and no-shave procedures are matched with doctors experienced in advanced implantation and unshaven transplantation techniques, including the extra handling and planning required when the hair shaft is retained.

What happens next

During consultation, the doctor assesses the donor area, hair length, graft requirements and desired level of discretion, then advises whether fully unshaven, partially concealed or conventional harvesting is the strongest route.
